So, hello everyone. Here  am at home, and I am asking all my friends round for a lunch time drinks party. I have kicked it off, with bottles of Gin Scotch, Vodka and Dry Martini. I am going to ask each of you to bring something along, and some mixers too. What I would like to know, is when you had your first drink of hard booze. For me, it was at school. My friend and I used to sneak some to school each morning. I was always a naughty girl, even then.

Welcome back!

For me, never. Can't stand the stuff. Beer, OK. Wine, for sure. Brandy, Whiskey, Tequila, Rum, whatever is a no. Can't stand the taste. I've tasted most, but never "had a drink" (Well, maybe a rum and Coke or a Margarita) of straight liquor. I just don't like it. Now, give me a good Chablis or Bordeaux, I'm in. Maybe a great Pils or Lager and I'm there, as well.

I'm of Delaware and possibly Iroquois decent. We know the Delaware for sure, we just can't prove it... seems that Granny ran away with her white lover, a married man... and was his "second wife" if you get my meaning... One of their daughters married back into the People, and that's how we know... but... LOL

The home land of the Iroquois and the Ojibwe was the same area around Hudson Bay, until that testy little war between them and the Ojibwe drove the Iroquois nation from power.

So Granny was a bit on the wild side. Sounds like she could be Metis.

when you had your first drink of hard booze.

While I was growing up, my parents had a restaurant. My first hard drink was me and my buddy sneaking a bit from each bottle in the bar section. We filled up a Pepsi bottle and took off.

We we're caught because I spent most of the night puking, and obviously, my parents started asking questions.

LOL. How old were you?

I remember at 16 drinking a whole bottle of Pernod, mixing it with black current juice. I spent all nigh vomiting out my bedroom window, the alcohol was perfectly crystallized in the snow the next morning. Until today - aniseed *shudder*

Augur Well

Hi Jo! Ex US Navy here!

Wild Turkey. Bourbon. Pops was a Wild Turkey man, and I was somewhere about eleven or twelve. I had sneaked a sip when no one was looking. At least I thought no one was looking! Busted! ROFL!

To this day, it's bourbon for me. Kentucky born and bred, preferably, for first choice. Neat, or on the rocks. But I sure won't turn my nose up at a bit of Don Julio Silver either! Or Laphroaig, a truly fine single malt of the best tradition, but if there's a day-to-day, it's still good old Jack Daniels Old Number 7, neat. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

(*bourbongrins*!)
