A Boeing 767 has made an emergency landing at Warsaw airport after its landing gear failed to operate.

Watch the video, to see a near perfect landing without the undercarriage being deployed. The pilot deserves to be rewarded for his brilliant ability here.

I just had to put this up on the vine. The pilot bought this aircraft down without any panic. His ability to land the damaged aircraft is outstanding. Has anyone got a scary story about being in a similar situation?

    Jo.ex,

Reverse thrust is not going to work very well when a '67 is using its engine cowlings as wheels. Not to mention, the airplane will stop soon enough. Fuel is burned to the minimum needed for landing to lessen fire potential.

Yeah - I saw it on BBC World tonight - pretty neat. Best thing - everyone is alive, albeit a bit traumatised. Worst thing - hell, one seriously damaged runway cost a few million to fix. Brilliant landing though considering the odds of keeping that old bucket in one piece.

Yeah - a Londoner, Jo. Living In Cyprus at present. Got a crappy Middle East satellite system but it does zoom in at least on the BBC - not sure how long for though. These things can be a bit temporary in this part of the World.

And kudos to those Union workers at Boeing for their superior structure, minus any cost-cutting materials of the free market. Lives saved.

Yeah - these old buckets are built by the old school, Story... with proper nails and bolts.. not some kind of staple gun on a production line. Heard the latest liner (Dreamliner??) is built from a new type of Plastic - crickey, sounds like clip-together Lego.

Ouch!! I was a copilot on one of those "old buckets" shortly after they first came out. Where do the years go?

Wow, Skydog - that's something. Old Buckets I use more as a term of endearment... just goes to show that everything that is Old is not necessarily Useless. In fact a lot more robust and reliable then new models. THAT is one solid aircraft built with the old Recipe Book!...
